I’ve been a photographer since age five. The very first portrait I ever took was of my neighborhood friend holding a purple hosta flower. I was six years old and felt like I’d accomplished a major life goal by taking that photo.

Cameras really never left my hands since. After a decade shooting digital, I was reintroduced to film in 2012, while living in the Pacific Northwest. In 2022, I returned to analog full time. It felt like going home.

My favorite things in life are my Rolleiflex and my dog, Mabel. We can all be found together in the forests and meadows of Southwest Germany, where we live and work. Orignally from Wisconsin, Germany is home away from home. A part of my heart also remains in Washington State, where I found so much love, and my return to film.

Somewhere along the way, photography stopped being something I just did and became simply how I move through the world. I’m still chasing the same feeling I had at age six— of holding something fleeting and making it last, if only for a moment.
